The very thing that we will not give up for God, is the very thing keeping us from recieving from God what we are asking Him for. And if you have given up every thing for God then check prayer, Because God says that the answer to our prayers our Yes and Amen "if they consist of bringing Him glory" 1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that , if we ask anything accoring to his will, he heareth us; And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desire of him. The other end of this is James 4:3 Ye ask, and recieve not , because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your own lusts
